Note: Reset steps can be different by model. A full factory reset may erase custom channels and tones.
Write down your settings first. If you are not sure, ask us.
- Check basics first. Turn volume up. Pick the right channel.
Make sure keypad lock is off. If VOX/Scan is on by mistake, turn it off.
Many problems are solved here. - Power cycle. Turn off the radio. Remove the battery for 10 seconds.
Put the battery back and turn it on. Now test with a short call. - Soft reset. On many Motorola models you can reset from the menu.
Look for Reset/Default/Initialize type options. This refreshes settings without wiping everything. - Factory reset (only if needed). This returns the radio to default.
It can clear saved channels and tones. Do this only if you saved your plan,
or if our support team asked you to do so. - Test and restore. After reset, check your frequency, tone, and power level.
Make one test call near the repeater or to your teammate. If audio is still bad, the issue may be the
battery, antenna, mic, or programming.
